CourtneyPosition: Senior Veterinary Nurse
Qualifications: Cert IV in veterinary nursing Experience: Courtney started with us at the beginning of 2023. She began her journey back in Adelaide (her home town) in 2015 doing work placement as a vet nurse. She spent the last 7yrs working at a clinic in Modbury and graduated in 2019 with her cert 4. Special Interests: Courtney has a passion for animals and loves learning new skills, whether it’s working with wildlife, reptiles, pets or farm animals - she is always ready for a new challenge.Her favourite part of being a veterinary nurse is surgical nursing, anaesthesia and caring for critical patients. Hobbies: Outside of work she enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time at the river with friends and family. She also likes to keep fit by playing tennis. Pets: Courtney has two pets back in Adelaide who are very spoilt, a German shepherd Mambo and a cat Daisy. |
MaddiePosition: Store Manager / Trainee Nurse
Experience: Maddie joined us in 2018 as Alice Vet Centre's first Kennel Hand. She became an important member of the team and now training to be a fully qualified veterinary nurse. She has a passionate interest in Remote Animal Management, and horse care. Maddie ensures that your little furry friend receives the creature comforts they deserve. BritanyPosition: Veterinary Nurse
Qualifications: Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (DipVN) (RVN) Experience: Britany has been in the veterinary profession since 2015. Having trained in Wales, UK, she made the decision to move to Australia last year where she originally worked in Sydney at a specialist hospital focusing on in-patient care and exotic pets. In October 2023, Britany joined the team at Alice Veterinary Centre and has since discovered a new love for equine nursing and community work. Special Interests: She has a special interest in all weird and wonderful animals which encouraged her to enrol on the advanced programme in veterinary nursing for Zoo, Exotics & wildlife. Hobbies: When not in her scrubs, Britany enjoys playing rugby, weight lifting, horse riding & hiking. Pets: She has no pets as of yet, but would eventually love to own a dog and a horse! |
AlastairPosition: Veterinary Nurse
Qualifications: Cert IV in veterinary nursing Experience: Alastair began his career in 2018 at a vet clinic in Sydney. There he learned the wide variety of roles a vet nurse is tasked with and how essential a vet nurse is in the veterinary team. From x-rays, surgeries, nursing patients and meeting people and their pets, there are many areas he enjoys thoroughly. After achieving Certificate IV in veterinary nursing, Alastair signed up to the Vet Nurse Council of Australia to continue his education and registered under the AVNAT scheme in order to help provide the gold standard in patient care for our furry family members. Alastair worked in a vet clinic in Tasmania for some years until he eventually became tired of the frosty Tasmanian winters and wanted a change in scenery. Alice Springs has been a welcome change for him. |
KarinaPosition: Veterinary Nurse
Qualifications: Cert IV in veterinary nursing Experience: Karina started working as a veterinary nurse while studying in 2007. She spent eight years in the Blue Mountains and during this time she graduated with her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing as well as completing a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (Surgical). After an 18 month stint nursing for RSPCA NSW she made the NT her home; working in the Top End before settling in Alice Springs to start a family in 2016. Karina has spent her career working with small animals, wildlife and exotics. She has particular interests in surgery, anaesthesia and medicine. During her time in Alice she has been working with Alice Veterinary Centre part time when family commitments allow. Most recently, while on Maternity leave she completed a Certificate IV in training and Assessment in the hope to pass her knowledge onto future generations of vet nurses. Pets: Karina shares her home with her husband, 3 children, her dog Loki, her cat Daphne and four chickens. Hobbies: Outside of work she enjoys vegetable gardening, cooking and is a keen baker. |
BekPosition: Trainee Vet Nurse / Kennel Hand
Experience: Rebekah has completed her Certificate III in Captive Animals and has also completed studying her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She worked at a veterinary clinic in Sydney before she made the move of her dreams to Alice Springs. She has always loved helping and taking care of animals, therefore, veterinary nursing was the obvious choice for her. Going out on community trips and seeing more of the beautiful and vast red centre has been an amazing experience for her. She loves taking care of any patients with paws, claws and scales. Pets: Back home Rebekah has a horse and two dogs, who she loves spending time with. Hobbies:Bek also enjoys horse riding, bike riding, camping and bush walking. |
